Liovi Probiotic Drink Demo

March 12, 2015 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

Join us this Thursday for samples and sales of Liovi!

Liovi™ Probiotic Drink is a drinkable yogurt that comes in two flavors: Plain and Vanilla. Made with organic California milk from cows raised on family farms’ pastures in Sonoma County, they contain a non-genetically modified probiotic strain for promoting a healthy intestinal balance. The strain is not just added, but actually makes the yogurt. The yogurt is fermented for a long time, many hours longer than most commercial yogurts, so that the probiotic strain can take its time to secrete its beneficial properties. Both flavors are also lactose reduced so that lactose intolerant people can consume.

The Liovi brand is derived from the words, “I live, I love”.

Brian Lue, CEO of NuBiome, Inc., makers of Liovi, spent most of his life working to understand and solve difficult problems in science, engineering, and medicine. His earliest passion was space flight. He worked with the rocket pioneer, Robert Truax, in the world’s first private rocket company, Truax Engineering and won two National Science Foundation grants to perform rocket research. He completed his Master’s Degree in 1993 from Stanford’s Aeronautics and Astronautics department. After graduation he honed his technology development skills at Applied Materials where was a key inventor and member of the startup team that became the company’s most successful product, High Density Plasma Chemical Vapor Deposition. The division sold over $4B of process equipment that makes the computing chips found in nearly all cell phones and computers. He has 23 patents in the semiconductor equipment manufacturing field and several pending in the text analytics field.

In 2000 he faced the challenge of his life after a family member was stricken with a chronic autoimmune gastrointestinal condition. As a rocket engineer, he intuitively believed that the problem originated from improperly behaving gut bacteria and their complex chemistries. In order to improve the chances of a good outcome he spent countless hours at the Stanford Lane Medical Library and on PubMed.gov researching and building a mental model of the microbiome and its effect on human health. Brian was also trained by Prof. Thomas J. Borody, who is the inventor of the cure for stomach ulcers and fecal transplants.

To help medical researchers accelerate their discovery of causes and cures of illness he co-founded a text analytics startup that originally worked on developing a medical search engine. He also co-founded NuBiome with a team of world-class medical researchers. NuBiome’s mission is to develop and commercialize technologies to control the chemistries and microbiome of the human gastrointestinal tract to provide tools for supporting health.
